The commencement of the Holy Year will begin with the Opening of the Holy Door and the Blessing of the Shrine of the Martyrs in St. Joseph Cathedral, on Thursday, 9 November 2023.
This liturgical celebration will include elements from the different Catholic rites and traditions present in the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia (U.A.E., Oman and Yemen).
6:00 p.m. – Evening Prayer in the Syro-Maronite tradition (English and Arabic)
7:00 p.m. – Solemn Mass in the Latin tradition (English)
7:55 p.m. – Announcement of the Holy Year with hymn in the Greek Catholic tradition
8:00 p.m. – Veneration of the Martyrs' Relics with hymn in the West Syriac tradition (Syro-Malankara)
8:05 p.m. – Procession of the Relics and Blessing and Opening of the Holy Door
8:25 p.m. – Blessing of the Shrine of the Martyrs in St. Joseph with hymn in the East Syriac tradition (Syro-Malabar)
8:30 p.m. – Papal Blessing with plenary indulgence.
